Dr. Ryan Swenson

I grew up in Ramsey, MN graduating from Anoka High School in 2004.  After graduating college from the University of Wisconsin – Stout, my wife and I moved out to Colorado for a change of scenery. After working  for a few years, I was drawn into dentistry and graduated from the University of Colorado School of Dental Medicine.

I feel extremely lucky to have found Litchfield Family Dental and been mentored by Dr. Jim Haugo and Dr. Mike Solbrack. They have set the bar high for dentistry in Litchfield, and I take pride in continuing their tradition of treating people fairly and with kindness. I carry a very similar philosophy of practice, where I believe it’s my job to inform you of your dental health and different treatment options, and it’s your decision to decide how to move forward. When you are in need of treatment, I aim to provide deliberate, comfortable and skilled service that will help you feel treated like family. My favorite part of dentistry is the people connected to the teeth, and the captive audience for my wonderful jokes!

My wife, Kayla, and I live in Litchfield with our 4 children; Sully, Laurel, Otto and Abe. Kayla is a co-founder of a non-profit indoor playpark called Rise + Roam, right next door to our dental office. You can check it out at https://www.riseandroamplay.com/   In the rare moment we aren’t wrangling our kiddos, we enjoy spending time with family and friends, working on projects at the house and getting out to the lake for beach time and fishing.

Dr. McKaid Sheppard

I was born and raised in Pocatello, Idaho. I met my amazing wife there and together we have started a family with two wonderful kids. We love to be outdoors and to travel as a family. I grew up fishing, mountain biking and camping and am excited to explore Minnesota seeing all that this beautiful state has to offer.

I graduated from Idaho State University with a bachelors in Biochemistry then continued on to Creighton University School of Dentistry graduating in 2020. I was fortunate enough to be accepted into one of the top general dentistry residencies in the country; the VA clinic in San Antonio Texas. I was able to expand my clinical knowledge and skills during my residency. My focus was on full mouth rehabilitations, implant dentistry and comprehensive patient care. I love meeting my patients and helping them along their dental journey, everyone’s is different.

Whether my patients are wanting to maintain their current dental condition and health or wanting to get back to where they once were, I am here to help. After living back in Idaho for a few years we decided we wanted a change of pace. We met Dr. Ryan Swenson and visited Litchfield and knew that it was where we wanted to be. The town has captured our hearts and the people of Minnesota have lived up to their welcoming and friendly reputation. I can’t wait to get to know my patients and am excited to call Litchfield home.

Dr. Jim Haugo and Dr. Mike Solbrack

After serving the Litchfield and the surrounding communities for over 38 years, Dr. Jim Haugo entered into retirement in 2017. In 2020, Dr. Mike Solbrack joined Dr. Haugo among the retired ranks. Those who were fortunate enough to work with them or receive care from them will always remember their big heart for other people,  willingness to stop everything and help someone in need,  and the way they finished their careers well. We all miss Jim and Mike, but are so happy they are able to enjoy more time with their wonderful families and go on many new adventures. If you see Dr. Jim or Dr. Mike around town, be sure to say hi and thank them for all they have done for this community!
